Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our team. This role involves designing and documenting end-to-end solutions for data integrations, major enhancements, and complex data products, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices. The Data Architect will also contribute to the technical roadmap, define and enforce data engineering standards, and serve as the final technical approver for significant code changes and architectural modifications.
Main Tasks:
1) Strategic & Technical Leadership (Enhance)
- Solution Architecture: Design and document end-to-end solutions for new data integrations, major enhancements, and complex data products, ensuring they adhere to architectural standards and best practices.
- Technical Roadmap: Contribute to the technical roadmap for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), identifying opportunities for refactoring, performance optimization, and the adoption of new technologies or patterns to improve service reliability.
- Pattern & Standard Setting: Define and enforce data engineering and development standards across the program, including coding conventions, CI/CD practices, and data quality frameworks.
- Technical Review: Serve as the final technical approver for all significant code changes, pull requests, and architectural modifications, ensuring quality and consistency.
2) Service Reliability & Operations (Operate)
- Technical Escalation: Act as the highest point of technical escalation for critical P1/P2 incidents and complex, recurring problems that the engineering teams are unable to resolve.
- Expert-Level Triage: Lead the technical investigation during major outages, performing deep-dive analysis across the entire data stack (from source systems to BI reports) to identify root causes.
- Problem Management: Drive the technical resolution for systemic issues identified through Problem Management, designing long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
3) Mentorship & Governance
- Team Upskilling: Actively mentor Data Engineers and Data Visualization Engineers, providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Knowledge Centralization: Champion the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, ensuring critical knowledge is captured and shared effectively across the team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with client architects, source system owners, and other vendor teams to resolve cross-platform dependencies and ensure end-to-end data flow integrity.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in data-centric roles,
- Proven experience in a technical leadership position such as Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or Principal Engineer,
- Modern stack: Expert-level knowledge of Snowflake and Azure Data Factory (ADF),
- Legacy stack: Deep experience with SQL Server,
- Legacy ETL: Familiarity with Informatica and IBM DB2,
- Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Control-M,
- BI & visualization: Experience with SAP Business Objects and Power BI,
- Expert-level SQL,
- Proficiency in Python,
- Experience with XML and JSON data formats,
- Deep, demonstrable expertise across Data Engineering (ETL/ELT), Data Visualization (BI), and Quality Engineering (QA).
Nice-to-have requirements:
- Experience working in an international environment (with significant time shifts, teams located on different continents),
- ITIL certification (Foundation or higher),
- Experience with service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management),
- Proficiency in Python,
- Experience with XML and JSON data formats,
- Experience with enterprise schedulers, with Control-M being highly preferred.
Additional information
This position allows for remote work for candidates based in Poland.
