We are seeking an experienced Database Governance & Performance Engineer to ljoin our teams. The consultant will review the current estate, establish database administration standards and good practices, identify operational and technical risks, and execute remediation activities to improve database reliability, maintainability, performance, synchronization, capacity planning, monitoring, and operational governance.
Mission
- Establish a complete inventory of SQL Server and Oracle databases, instances, and related components.
- Assess existing database configurations and identify deviations from good practices.
- Review database performance, maintenance routines, indexing strategies, storage utilization, and operational processes.
- Review synchronization, replication, and data consistency mechanisms where applicable.
- Define and document standards for database administration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, and performance management.
- Produce a risk register identifying technical debt, operational risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and execute remediation plans to bring database platforms into alignment with defined standards.
- Define monitoring and alerting requirements and implement improvements where necessary.
- Establish capacity planning practices and forecasting recommendations.
- Create operational documentation, procedures, runbooks, and technical standards.
- Transfer knowledge and good practices to internal infrastructure and operations teams through mentoring and knowledge-sharing sessions.
