Cyberattack on Inetum in France

Cyberattack on Inetum in France

Assessment and latest developments

Press Release

Release date :

As announced on Monday, 20 December 2021, the Inetum Group was the target of a ransomware cyberattack on Sunday, 19 December 2021, which impacted certain operations in France, but not in any of the other countries where the Group operates.

None of the main infrastructures, communication, collaboration tools or delivery operations for Inetum clients has been affected.

Within the affected perimeter, all servers have been isolated and client VPNs have been switched off.

Following these initial measures and as a precaution, the dedicated crisis unit within the Group immediately asked Inetum's operational teams to deactivate certain client interconnections deemed sensitive at the time.

At present, for all other Inetum clients and partners:

  • Delivery operations are safeguarded
  • Messaging and collaboration systems have not been affected

The first detailed analyses have made it possible to:

  • identify the signature of the ransomware which we have communicated to the competent authorities at ANSSI (French Network and Information Security Agency )
  • establish that there is no link to the Log4j vulnerability.

Inetum has already notified the prosecuting authorities and is working closely with their specialised cybercrime units.

The Inetum Group has also decided to call in a Security Incident Response (SIR) service to benefit from the support of a trusted third party.
