In the 1st edition of the UPskill Program, aimed at qualifying and retraining unemployed or underemployed people, Inetum trained and hired nine people. For the 2nd edition, Inetum expects this number to grow substantially, not least because there are 179 people enrolled.

Inetum, the market leader in the implementation of SAP solutions, announces the training of 179 people within the scope of the 2nd edition of the UPskill Program - Digital Skills & Jobs, extending the program to the areas of SAP and OutSystems, at the same time extending the geographic spectrum to the cities of Lisbon, Porto and Bragança.

Effectively responding to the lack of qualified resources in the areas of digital and technology in companies, essential to accelerate the transition to digital, is the main objective of the UPskill Program.

“We don't just want to train and requalify in the abstract, we want to qualify staff in line with what is Inetum 's culture and the needs of the markets where we operate. In the current context, having a cohesive team is the answer to a more resilient organization. Therefore, for Inetum program is the perfect opportunity to increase our competitiveness, training qualified professionals who can respond effectively to the demands and needs of our customers and partners”, says Francisco Febrero, SAP Global Business Line CEO & Head. of Inetum Portugal.

The UPskill Program was created with the aim of responding to the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Digital Transition and, subsequently, the lack of qualified human resources in the areas of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Increasing the qualification of new professionals in this sector is crucial for the country's economic recovery, in addition to guaranteeing them access to a job market full of career opportunities and continuous development.

For Inetum, this program has represented an excellent opportunity to strengthen its teams, both in terms of new talent and in terms of its operational capacity. From professionals looking for a career change to people who were effectively unemployed, this program allowed the selection of new employees willing to learn and to embrace a new challenge.

The 1st edition of the UPskill Program, which took place last year, is an initiative that results from the joint efforts of the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC), the Institute for Employment and Professional Training (IEFP) and the Coordinating Council for Institutos Superiores Politécnicos (CCISP), with the aim of providing training to people who want to invest in their professional development or who are unemployed or underemployed, while helping to improve Portugal's competitiveness.

Last year, Inetum trained ten people, nine of which were hired to join the company's staff, in the areas of Java, .Net and Cloud.

The 2nd edition of the UPskill Program started on October 14th and each course has an estimated duration of 6 months in an academic environment, followed by 3 months of professional training in a work context at Inetum. ”In general, we have found professionals with a great desire to embrace a new challenge, very motivated by the change of career and who took this opportunity with enthusiasm, some of whom were effectively unemployed. For our part, we seek to respond to the needs of employees as a whole, respecting and looking at all spheres of their lives and trying, as much as possible, to promote their personal and professional development”, concludes Francisco Febrero.
