In the 1st edition of the UPskill Programme, aimed at qualifying and requalifying people who are unemployed or in underemployment situations, Inetum trained and hired nine people. For the 2nd edition, Inetum foresees a substantial increase in this number, as there are 179 people enrolled.

Inetum, the market leader in the implementation of SAP solutions, announces the training of 179 people under the 2nd edition of the UPskill - Digital Skills & Jobs Programme, extending the programme to the SAP and OutSystems areas, while expanding the programme’s geographic coverage to the cities of Lisbon, Porto and Bragança.

The main objective of the UPskill Programme is to provide an effective response to the lack of qualified resources in the digital and technology fields in companies, which is essential for accelerating the digital transition.

“We don't want to merely train and requalify in the abstract, we want to qualify staff aligned with Inetum’s culture and the needs of the markets where we operate. In the current context, having a cohesive team is the key to a more resilient organisation. For Inetum, therefore, the UPskill programme is the perfect opportunity to increase our competitiveness, by training qualified professionals who can respond effectively to the requirements and needs of our customers and partners,” says Francisco Febrero, SAP Global Business Line CEO & Head of Inetum Portugal.

The UPskill Programme is aimed at providing responses to the Recovery and Resilience Plan and digital transition and, subsequently, to the lack of qualified human resources in the areas of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Increasing the qualification of new professionals in this sector is crucial for the country's economic recovery, besides guaranteeing them access to a job market full of career opportunities and on-going development.

For Inetum, this programme is an excellent opportunity to build up its teams in terms of new talent, as well as regarding their operational capacity. This programme has attracted new employees with a desire to learn and embrace a new challenge, from professionals looking for a career change to people who were effectively unemployed.

The 1st edition of the UPskill Programme was held last year and is an initiative that results from the combination of the efforts of the Portuguese Association for the Development of Communications (APDC), the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) and the Coordinating Council of Polytechnic Higher Institutes (CCISP), with the aim of providing training to people who want to invest in their professional development or who are unemployed or underemployed, while helping to improve Portugal's competitiveness.

Last year, Inetum trained ten people, nine of whom were hired to join the company's staff in the areas of Java, .Net and Cloud.

The 2nd edition of the UPskill Programme began on October 14, each course having an estimated duration of 6 months in a school environment, followed by 3 months of professional training in the context of work at Inetum. "In general, we have found professionals with a huge desire to embrace a new challenge, highly motivated to make a career change and who grasped this opportunity with enthusiasm, whilst some were effectively unemployed. For our part, we seek to respond to the needs of our employees as  thea whole, respecting and looking at all spheres of their lives and doing our utmost to promote their personal and professional development," concludes Francisco Febrero.
