Role Purpose
The Scrum Master supports the Squad in adopting and adapting Agile ways of working, in line with Agile values, principles, practices and tools. The role creates the conditions for effective collaboration, team autonomy and continuous delivery, while helping the team remove impediments, manage risks and improve its performance.
Responsabilities:
- Ensure that the Squad works within an Agile framework and understands Agile values and principles, while fostering self-organization, autonomy and transversal collaboration.
- Prepare, facilitate and continuously improve Agile ceremonies and rituals, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review / Demo and Retrospective.
- Create a collaborative, transparent and focused working environment and protect the team from unexpected workload or external pressure during the Sprint.
- Facilitate discussion, decision-making and conflict resolution, and help prevent or address interpersonal issues constructively.
- Work closely with the Product Owner to maintain an effective Product Backlog, prepare upcoming iterations and balance customer value, delivery improvement, team capacity and priorities.
- Co-create the Sprint Goal with the Product Owner and delivery team, support Sprint execution and maintain appropriate delivery visibility, including progress indicators where applicable.
- Identify impediments, operational constraints, dependencies and delivery risks; enable the team to remove obstacles and escalate when resolution requires action outside the Squad.
- Define, track and communicate relevant delivery indicators and use them to support fact-based discussions and continuous improvement.
- Develop and follow the team continuous-improvement plan, ensuring that retrospective actions are concrete, owned and monitored.
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and relevant Tribe roles to manage cross-Squad dependencies, synchronize activities and propose action plans.
- Act as a change agent by promoting effective ways of working, participating in communities of practice and improving communication within the Squad and with stakeholders.
- Organize and facilitate delivery or project portfolio reviews when required by the local governance.
- Support complementary coordination or operational activities related to the Mainframe application environment, according to team needs and agreed priorities.
Key Interactions:
- Product Owner: backlog readiness, Sprint objectives, prioritization, value and delivery flow.
- Squad members: daily facilitation, Agile practices, impediment removal, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Other Scrum Masters / Tribe roles: dependency management, synchronization and shared practices.
- Agile Coach / community of practice: development of Agile mindset, methods, facilitation practices and tools.
- Business stakeholders, architects and other Squads: transparent communication, alignment and management of interfaces.
