Helping ITP Aero drive secure AI adoption with Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform

ITP Aero, a global leader in the design and manufacture of aircraft engines with more than 6,500 employees, set out to build an AI-ready workplace. The goal was clear: make corporate knowledge easier to access, empower business teams to work more independently, and scale innovation without sacrificing security or governance. With support from Inetum, the company brought together Microsoft Power Platform governance, low-code development, intelligent SharePoint search, and Microsoft Copilot adoption into a unified global strategy. This case demonstrates how technology, enablement, and governance can work together to deliver responsible and scalable generative AI across a large enterprise.

The challenge: Scaling innovation with security and governance

After adopting Microsoft 365 and Power Platform, ITP Aero needed a common framework to manage applications, environments, and digital initiatives. The absence of consistent standards made it difficult to scale solutions and increased reliance on IT teams for business applications and automation. At the same time, corporate information was spread across multiple SharePoint repositories, making it difficult for employees to quickly find reliable content. The organization needed to give business teams greater autonomy while maintaining security, traceability, and operational control. The rise of generative AI introduced an additional challenge: avoiding fragmented Copilot adoption without support, shared guidelines, or a governance model.

The solution: Power Platform governance, low-code development, and intelligent search

Inetum designed a transformation program that addressed these challenges as part of a single initiative. Rather than deploying Copilot as a standalone tool, the project established the governance, knowledge access, and adoption capabilities required to support long-term AI usage. The program began with the implementation of a Power Platform Center of Excellence, a governance model that defined common standards for environments, identities, security, and application lifecycle management. This foundation enabled ITP Aero to expand low-code innovation and prepare new AI use cases with greater control and consistency. In parallel, Inetum developed Smart Search, a solution built with Copilot Studio and connected to SharePoint repositories. The tool allows employees to ask questions in natural language and access corporate information through a conversational experience. As a result, knowledge distributed across the organization becomes easier to discover and use in everyday work.

Training and Microsoft Copilot adoption

The initiative included hands-on training programs for Citizen Developers and Pro Developers, tailored to real business needs. More than 200 employees across Spain, the UK, Mexico, and India participated, strengthening the organization’s internal capabilities to build solutions and accelerate innovation globally from within business units. Microsoft Copilot adoption was rolled out progressively with executive sponsorship, training, user support, and usage monitoring. During the enterprise adoption phase, ITP Aero assigned 340 licenses, achieved a 92% weekly usage rate, and recorded 2,469 assisted hours. The company subsequently added 600 additional licenses for early adopters as part of its 2026 scaling strategy.

Results and lessons for scaling responsible AI

“All participants in the project have been able to save time and improve the quality of their work, enabling them to deliver greater value in less time and make better decisions. Thanks to this initiative, we have developed new internal capabilities and learned how to collaborate effectively through artificial intelligence.”, ITP Aero.

The organization has increased team autonomy, streamlined access to knowledge, and reduced dependence on traditional development teams. The ITP Aero case highlights an important lesson: successful AI adoption is not driven by technology alone. Long- term value comes from connecting Copilot to trusted enterprise data sources, building practical AI capabilities across the workforce, and establishing a governance framework that enables innovation while maintaining security and control.
