Eulen Group Improves Occupational Safety Through Immersive Virtual Reality Training
With support from Inetum, Eulen Group has transformed its occupational safety training model, improving employee safety and optimizing operational efficiency in an increasingly demanding logistics environment.
Delivering Consistent Safety Training at Scale
The high incidence of musculoskeletal injuries associated with improper load- handling techniques, coupled with the complexity of training dispersed teams, highlighted the limitations of the traditional training model. This approach, based on in-person sessions, made it difficult to provide real-time feedback, ensure consistency in regulatory compliance, and scale training efficiently.
This challenge was part of a broader need to improve workplace safety, reduce operating costs, and move toward more innovative and measurable training models.
A New Approach Based on Immersive Training
To address these challenges, Eulen Group initiated a shift toward an immersive training model based on virtual reality, aimed at promoting the adoption of best practices and reducing risks through improved training practices.
“This virtual reality proof of concept allows us to visualize, from any remote location, everything the worker does, facilitating communication, supervision, and training validation,” explains Fernando Garrido, Director of International Operations at Eulen Group.
This new approach makes it possible to anticipate errors, correct postures in real time, and ensure that employees develop safe habits before encountering real- world situations.
Technology Applied to Risk Prevention
Concrete Results in Safety and Efficiency
The implementation of a training platform based on virtual reality and motion capture sensors has been key to making this transformation possible.
“Inetum developed an immersive training solution that integrates virtual reality, real-time posture analysis, and remote monitoring, enabling improved occupational risk prevention and measurable validation of training,” notes Fernando Garrido, Director of International Operations at Eulen Group.
The solution recreates logistics environments where workers practice safe load- lifting techniques, while advanced sensors analyze the position of legs, back, and arms to detect deviations and correct them immediately.
With Inetum’s support, the rollout was implemented as a three-phase proof of concept -learning, implementation, and evaluation- facilitating a gradual adoption tailored to operational needs.
The ability to generate legally valid reports has strengthened regulatory compliance regarding occupational risk prevention. At the same time, replacing part of in-person training with virtual environments has reduced logistics costs and minimized employee downtime. “This project demonstrates how the progressive incorporation of advanced technologies into our operations allows us to improve safety, optimize costs, and move toward more efficient models,” says the Director of International Operations at Eulen Group.
Real-time feedback has significantly improved the quality of learning, allowing workers to correct errors immediately and acquire safer techniques with greater precision.
Likewise, capturing of motion metrics has opened new possibilities for ergonomic analysis and the continuous improvement of working conditions, facilitating data- driven decision-making.
Key Considerations for Scaling and Evolving the Solution
The implementation of this solution as a proof of concept has validated the potential of virtual reality and advanced analytics in occupational safety and health training.
Although the rollout has not yet been scaled across the entire organization, the initiative has laid the groundwork for future developments, highlighting the importance of defining a scalability and adoption strategy from the outset.
