Inetum CEO Vincent Rouaix will participate in the round table on “Innovation at the service of companies” on Saturday, 9 July at 3.40 pm, during the 22nd Rencontres Economiques d’Aix-en-Provence event.

Progress is often perceived negatively because of the sometimes brutal transformations it can bring in its wake. This is certainly true of artificial intelligence, which requires public regulation for ethical reasons.

Yet, innovation and progress are vital to reinvent our societies and improve our production methods, especially in the face of major changes such as global warming, resource scarcity or growing inequalities. Similarly, the challenges of reindustrialization, relocation and strategic autonomy are closely linked to innovation and the decarbonization of economies.

Whether to target sectors for innovation or promote the development of certain technologies, the impetus for innovation is crucial.

  • Which players have the responsibility to promote or steer progress?
  • What sectors of our economy should we focus on?
  • Should public aid focus on research per se or should it be driven by downstream factors?
  • Should it be targeted on production factors or should it continue to directly help companies with the now well-documented adverse effects (windfall, distortion of competition, etc.)?
  • How can the contradictory impacts of new technologies best be used for the population?

Speakers:

  • Angélique Gérard, Chair of Systemic
  • Vincent Rouaix, CEO of Inetum
  • Sylvain Duranton, CEO of BCG
  • Adam Cohen, Director of Economic Policy at Google

Coordinator: El Mouhoub Mouhoud, member of Le Cercle des Economistes
