Inetum Belgium relocates its headquarters to Office Park South in Mechelen. This strategic move ensures that the company is now even closer to both its clients and staff residences, allowing for more efficient and effective collaboration.

Inetum, a leading European provider of digital services and solutions, announces that it will move its Belgian head office to Mechelen, more specifically to Office Park South, in September. This strategic move underscores Inetum's commitment to its European market leadership with strong local anchoring. The new office, situated at Bedrijvenlaan 4, will be a center for collaboration and innovation and will serve as a base for approximately 750 staff members.

New headquarters for Inetum Belgium

After an independent study by an external partner, the choice of Mechelen as new location was based on several strategic considerations. Firstly, Mechelen offers a favorable location in Belgium, making it easily accessible for employees, customers, and prospects. Moreover, Mechelen is known for its rich talent pool in the IT sector, making it the ideal place for Inetum's Belgian headquarters. Inetum is currently actively looking for about 150 employees for some 75 job types.

Mayor of Mechelen, Bart Somers, adds: "Mechelen has long been the economic powerhouse of our region. Today's announcement once again underscores the unique position of our city in the Flemish Diamond. With the arrival of Inetum, we not only anticipate a significant increase in employment, thanks to the 750 jobs relocating here, but the company also immediately ranks among the top 10 largest employers in Mechelen. In terms of job creation, this is undeniably the most significant announcement of new business activity in our city this century. Truly historic!"

Sustainability is key

By relocating to Mechelen, Inetum reduces its ecological footprint, in line with its commitment to sustainability and flexible working practices. Inetum attaches great importance to sustainability and has taken this aspect into account in the choice of its new offices. With the relocation from Huizingen to Mechelen, Inetum reduces its office floor for its HQ from 5371m² to 1699m², which is much closer to today’s reality. Additionally, Inetum has placed a strong focus on mobility in choosing Mechelen, with an office that is easily accessible by public transport and bicycle as well as by car. Over 50% of Inetum’s fleet drives partially or fully electrically, which is a further testimony of the company’s commitment in reducing its carbon and ecological footprint. Furthermore, Inetum strongly believes in renovation to avoid additional construction and associated emissions, leading to the choice of a renovated building in Mechelen.

Inetum’s Way of Working

The relocation of our headquarters to Mechelen is a very deliberate choice,’ says Johnny Smets, General Manager of Inetum Belgium. ‘Being close to our customers is an important element in our strategy. We have clients throughout the country, with a significant concentration between Bruxelles and Antwerp, and in the wide region around Mechelen. Another key element in our strategy is to put our people at the center. For the largest group, Mechelen is a good geographical location. One of our values is helping each other. We are a “people business”. Collaboration and interaction are necessary to help our clients achieve their goals and thus achieve our own goals. Our new offices will be strongly focused on collaboration, which also stimulates personal development, and further promotes teamwork, exchange, and creativity,’ concludes Johnny Smets.

The new offices will benefit from modern workspace design to stimulate collaboration and innovation. These spaces will be optimized to support Inetum's flexible Way of Working, allowing employees to work regardless of location or time. To the extent of the possibilities within their work for customers and their team, employees have flexible working hours in order to optimally combine their work and private life. The main purpose of the new headquarters will thus be for meeting colleagues and customers, and for teams to connect. More than 120 meeting places are therefore provided in the Mechelen offices. The rest of the time, people mostly work at customers' premises or from home.

Strengthening its local presence

In addition to the new headquarters in Mechelen, Inetum reaffirms its commitment to Wallonia, and is currently exploring its options for a Walloon office. The company will also retain its offices in Ghent and Leuven, as well as a satellite office in Houthalen (Limburg), thus further strengthening its local presence in Belgium, close to its staff and clients.

Concerning its new headquarters in Mechelen, Inetum is open to explore opportunities for collaborations with the local community in Mechelen, aiming to strengthen its local anchoring and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region.
