Inetum joins Walqa and signs a collaboration with AWS to boost economic development and innovation in Aragon

Inetum, Europe's leading provider of digital services and solutions, joins Walqa Technology Park of Aragon as a full member and signs an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to promote digital transformation, foster talent and attract investment to the region through collaboration in different areas.

The president of Inetum, Jacques Pommeraud, and the second vice-president and counsellor of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, have signed - in a ceremony this afternoon at Walqa - the incorporation of the multinational into the ecosystem of the technology park of Aragon.

Inetum, Europe's leading company in digital services and solutions, is firmly committed to the structuring of the multinational in Aragon, a region in which it has been present since 1998, with headquarters in Zaragoza, Monzón and now also in the Walqa Technology Park. The firm commitment to this autonomous community includes the creation and promotion of local talent, with expectations of doubling its workforce in the territory over the next two years, and the desire to promote the areas of cybersecurity, cloud and SAP at a time when the technology sector is experiencing significant growth in Aragon. Inetum opens an office in Walqa with 16 professionals dedicated to offering consultancy and training to companies (mainly small and medium-sized) in the region, aligning itself with the strategy of the Government of Aragon and complementing its initiative to create the Aragon Cybersecurity Centre.

The Second Vice-President and Regional Counsellor of Economy, Employment and Industry, Mar Vaquero, has included this agreement in the objective of continuing to position our region as a technological hub. "When we talk about our position as a world reference, it is thanks to the strength of the whole territory as a whole, with spaces in the three provinces that are neither contradictory nor exclusive, but which all add up to make Aragon a recognisable territory in the sector", she explained. With this agreement, which guarantees the presence of Inetum in the Walqa Technology Park, the objective of "structuring" the three Aragonese provinces in the technology sector is furthered. All this because the Huesca space "meets all the conditions for the arrival of the most recognisable companies in the technology sector" and also "is generating a notable interest that is evident in the good news that we have recently heard".

For his part, the director of Walqa, Carlos Ortas, expressed his satisfaction with the company's commitment to the Huesca park: "We believe that incorporating a multinational like Inetum into the park reinforces our commitment to consolidate Walqa as a focus of technological development for the whole community and will help us to attract other projects".

Reinforcing this same objective, Inetum and AWS have signed a collaboration agreement to promote economic development and innovation in Aragon, especially in the municipality of Huesca, and to take advantage of the presence of both companies in the Walqa Technology Park. The commitment includes fostering digital talent, the technological transformation of companies and public administration and attracting investment.

"We have created a very strong cybersecurity team in Aragon, specifically in Walqa, which is the ideal ecosystem to bring Inetum's purpose to life," said Inetum president Jacques Pommeraud: "Here we want to grow and for our team to contribute to digital impact but faster, easier and for the good of all, in Aragon, in Spain and across Europe. As the world moves more and more towards cloud technology, we can help Aragonese businesses to make a safe and productive leap, providing them with the best consulting and training in cybersecurity".

David Blázquez, Head of Infrastructure Public Policy at AWS: "We celebrate the arrival of Inetum at Walqa Technology Park and we reaffirm, with this collaboration agreement, our commitment to Huesca and to the development of the local business fabric".

In addition to the second vice-president of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, the director of PT Walqa, Carlos Ortas, and the head of public policies of AWS Infrastructure, David Blázquez, the mayoress of Huesca, Lorena Orduna, (in her capacity as vice-president of the Board of Directors of PT Walqa) and the President of the Provincial Council of Huesca and Mayor of Monzón, Isaac Claver, were also present.

Afterwards, the Inetum delegation had the opportunity to visit the AST Security Operations Centre in Walqa with María Ángeles Rincón (General Director of Electronic Administration and Corporate Applications) and Ángel Sanz Barea (Managing Director of Aragonesa de Servicios Telemáticos).
