Inetum becomes a partner of France Immersive Learning and the Nexus consortium
Building an open and sovereign metaverse for the transmission of knowledge
Building an open and sovereign metaverse for the transmission of knowledge At a time when the majors and GAFAMs are equipping themselves with the means to create the Metaverse that will be the locus of tomorrow's digital activities, and at the same time when many organisations are expressing growing interest in immersive devices for both their production and training needs, the Nexus consortium, supported by the France Immersive Learning (FIL) association, was born out of the desire to build the foundations of sovereign and ethical collective virtual universes dedicated to lifelong learning: an open and sovereign Metaverse space. This consortium, made up of FIL, Alstom, Nantes University, ENSAM, CESI, UniLaSalle University and the Grand Est academic region, has created Nexus as an open source virtual universe engine enabling the creation of educational Metavers that meet the challenges of content self-production, accessibility, interoperability, security and sovereignty.
As a partner, Inetum is contributing both its UMI3D technology and its Intraverse platform. UMI3D is an open source technology for creating interactive and interoperable virtual worlds. Intraverse is the solution for building and deploying immersive experiences. It provides technologies for reproducing social interactions and all kinds of physical manipulations with the world in which the user is immersed, whatever the final device used (virtual reality headset, computer, tablet, etc.).
Thanks to this partnership and these technologies, teachers will be able to concentrate on the essentials: the educational content.
This partnership makes a great deal of sense for the international Inetum group, which created UMI3D several years ago. This collaboration will also enable Inetum to accelerate the development of Intraverse's educational uses. In fact, Inetum's FabLab teams are working on innovation in education to enable companies to offer their employees disruptive and innovative learning solutions in terms of both form and content.
Nicolas Dupain, Chairman of France Immersive Learning, comments: "The strength of this technological partnership lies in our expertise combined with that of a market leader like Inetum, so that we can launch an efficient and complementary solution on the market, dedicated to the growing desire of organisations to use immersive technologies to meet the challenges of new training methods and the need to renew the pleasure of learning and passing on knowledge.
"Thanks to this strategic partnership, Inetum is pursuing its ambitions to innovate in new areas of use. Inetum's innovation teams are involved on a daily basis with those of Nexus to co-develop and offer an effective solution for new teaching methods," explains Jean-François Gaudy, Corporate Vice President, Chief Innovation & Digital Officer at Inetum.
