EcoWerf is responsible for managing household waste in 28 municipalities in Belgium. The intermunicipal company collects and disposes of waste, handles billing for treatment, and carries out prevention initiatives to encourage households to reduce their waste production.
To carry out all of its tasks, EcoWerf relies on a set of tools developed and managed by Inetum. AORTA, delivered in 2005 and continuously improved since then, is EcoWerf's central application for managing data related to citizens, containers, billing, access to recycling parks, and waste statistics. Designed to be user-friendly and sustainable, it also facilitates financial communication with the relevant authorities.
Applications dedicated to citizens
AORTA is extended in Minj EcoWert. This application allows citizens to track their waste production and compare themselves to other households in order to raise awareness and improve their behavior. “We give citizens the data we collect to help them adopt more conscious and sustainable waste management practices,” explains Jérôme Jansen, Logistics Process Manager at EcoWerf.
Another application is Mobility. This mission management system allows collection routes to be planned while taking into account employee absence management constraints. Up to 17,000 daily tasks are dispatched annually using Mobility.
The added value of managed services
In addition to providing applications, Inetum supports EcoWerf's teams through its managed services covering incident management, functional support, and new developments. “This is a real added value for us,” says Jérôme Jansen. This ensures stable and reliable continuity in our collaboration and services."
The impact of this partnership with Inetum is being felt by citizens, who benefit from better service via the portals and applications dedicated to waste management, as well as by EcoWerf, which is proud to have one of the lowest residual waste production rates in Flanders. The impact can also be seen in terms of sustainability and the circular economy, while supporting sustainable mobility and prevention. Inetum is playing a central role in this societal transition.
